“Feeling sorry for yourself, and your present condition, is not only a waste of energy but the worst habit you could possibly have.” ~ Dale Carnegie
Melissa’s Words of Wisdom
Ahh, pity parties! We’ve all had our fair share of pity parties, pouting, acting like a 5 year old, call it what you want, you know you’ve been there before. I believe the reason why Dale Carnegie says this is a “waste of energy” and the “worst habit you could possibly have” is because it’s a very “non-resourceful” state to be in. It’s an emotional state that says, “I’m a victim, I’m helpless, I am at the effect of my circumstances, it’s so and so’s fault, etc.” With this level of thinking, you aren’t thinking of solutions, answers, or how to take constructive action. Of course we are all in this state from time to time, but to stay in this state for long periods of time is literally destructive to your mind, body, and spirit. Notice when you’re there and snap yourself out of it! Go do something that will encourage, energize and inspire you right away! The power is always in the present moment, so decide to have an “awesome-party” instead of a pity party! Happy Awesome Party!!
