“To connect with others in their world, you can’t just live in your own world. You have to link what you want to say to what others’ needs are. People don’t remember what we think is important; they remember what they think is important.” ~ John Maxwell
Melissa’s Words of Wisdom
Let’s be honest, we all have needs and we all want to get our needs met. It’s in our interest to find resources that fulfill our greatest needs, both internally and externally. With that said, when you are trying to connect with others and build a relationship with them, you must keep in mind what their needs are. What is most important to them? Why would they even listen to what you have to say? When you know these answers, you can communicate in a way that addresses what they need most. This way they will be more engaged and more vested in the relationship as well as the desired outcome. Remember, nothing happens until you decide to take action!
